General Resources

Lying underneath the titan-built Temple of Wisdom is a network of ornate tunnels, each leading to rooms filled with carefully curated treasures. Of course, it's this central hall that's decorated with artifacts too powerful to be stowed away anywhere else, watched over by powerful ancient dragons waiting for someone worthy of possessing them.

Flavorful pretense aside, here you'll find a selection of key programs, tools, and sites I use in my daily internet and computer life. Much like a lot of the things on the other categories on this site, a lot of what's here is freeware (and occassional cheap paid software) I've stuck with for years, or websites that I've found useful in my time on the net.

Hopefully you'll find some of these useful too. :) Happy browsing!

Firefox & Recommended Addons
  • Firefox - The best non-Chromium browser out there, with a wealth of features for both browser customization and user privacy (and there's themes, too!). If you're not using Firefox as your main browser, I highly reccomend switching to it!
  • uBlock Origin - A decent adblock is mandatory, especially in this day and age, and uBlock Origin is the best there is. Blocks the majority of banner and video ads out of the box, and can block other content via lists or selecting elements.
  • uBlock Origin Blocklists (mostly for AI crap) - AI uBlock Blacklist, HUGE AI Blocklist, Stevo's AI Blocklist, FMHY Unsafe Sites Filterlist
  • Dark Reader - Automatic dark mode for all sites, can be disabled on a per-site basis.
  • &udm=14 - Automatically adds the &udm=14 parameter to Google searches, removing AI Overview and "promotional" links, alongside all the other useless crap they've slapped onto their own search engine for the past two decades or so.
  • Raindrop.io Free with optional paid upgrade (yearly subscription) - Extension version of the bookmark manager; see the "Internet Tools and Essentials" category below for the app version.
  • Privacy Badger - Automatically blocks hidden trackers.
Internet Tools & Essentials
  • JDownloader2 - Adware-free all-purpose download manager. Can scan download links from the clipboard (copypaste!), as well as grab content from most web pages.
  • qBittorrent - Open-source torrent client with all the usual features, and then some. Please torrent responsibly, and remember to seed!
  • Raindrop.io Free with optional paid upgrade (yearly subscription) - Collect, import, and organize your bookmarks, and sync them between your devices! Available as an Android/IOS app, or even on Firefox (or Chrome or Edge) through extensions. Can also be used in-browser!
  • Thunderbird - E-mail client from the same developers behind Firefox, keep track of all your email accounts in one place. And it has a calendar and address book, too!
  • FreeTube - A feature-rich YouTube client that doesn't track viewing habits or show ads. Subcribe to channels and organize playlists without an account, and watch videos without having to open your browser. Only real downsides is age-restricted content being unviewable and the local API can be a bit finicky; try using an Invidious instance if the local API gets blocked.
